Trace Elliot SM7 Power Supply?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey TBers

Does anyone know what sort of power supply Trace Elliot's SM7 7-band eq uses? I know it takes 2x9Vs worth of juice, but I'm more wondering what adapter fits into it? I can't find this pedal on w.traceelliot.co.uk and the contact info there is for Peavey--who cannot help me, since this pedal was before they took over.

Anybody here know something about it? Thanks.

an 18volt power adapter would work, obviously make sure that the connector is the right size 2.1mm or 2.5mm and polarity. 300ma would suffice.

nextag or radioshack...etc.

Sorry, I wasn't specific enough. It's the male connection that fits into the pedal I'm having trouble with. I've several connection types--including those which come with the PP2+ I just received--but none of them fit.

I think if you do a search or two you will find info on this subject.

Bottom line, Dunlop makes a solid 18v PS, but not with the connector or polarity the T-E needs. You then can buy adapter cables from Godlyke (Powerall) or Visual Sound (1 spot) to make up the connection.

Dave sez check it out.

Well, Dave. None of my many searches turned up anything useful. However...

I don't know what I was doing that I couldn't make this work before, but as it turns out, the standard Boss connection is what this pedal takes. In an attempt to get a better idea of what shape would plug into this jack, I used a nail to gently poke around (literally) inside it. After getting a feel of the inside of it, I again tried to insert a cable and this time it fit.

So, I guess I'm happy now. Thanks.

Here's one, and probably the most relevant to what you are looking for.

I have the secret combo for Trace Elliot 18v pedals

That sounds very unusual, unless your pedal has had the jack changed to accept the smaller Boss connector, or it is now physically altered.

Man!! I looked all over and saw neither of those two posts! Thanks for that link Dave M. It really cleared things up.

It appears only one connector I have fits the TE jack. When I attempted to make the fit last time, I just happened to grab the right one and 'assumed' it was a Boss connector simply because my fingers are not so dexterous as to feel the difference between 2.5mm and 2.1mm. Go figure!

As soon as I get another to assist me in figuring out the cable colors, I'll be all set. Who would've thought eyesight would come in so handy, eh?
