Smile Trace Elliot SMX Dual Compressor

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, i have bought a Trace Elliot SMX Dual compressor pedal which is an 18 volt system
and i was wondering what you think of this pedal and if anyone knows where i can get a power supply for it please.
it is on its way to me and should be here in a week or so.

Reviews are fine but working bassists are always the best opinion to hear

Thanks HowardH

Thankyou, heard the song, very bass orientated but it fits nicely.
the latest i am recording is also bass orientated but strong slap/n/crunch probably more crunch lol, and laid a second bass track (ironically not with bass guitar) i only put 50 seconds down to see how it grooves, before i record it for real.
if you wanna hear it then let me know hhoward@y7mail.com
Thanks HowardH

I think he must have confused the forum posts with a PM exchange. Either that, or he got ahold of some of that special Aussie crack.

Or did hhoward think that the myspace link in my sig was an example of the SMX in action? To be clear, It's not. I've never tried the Trace Elliot SMX dual band compressor. Any compression on the music in my myspace is Zoom B2, Maxon CP-9, or recording/mp3 related.

Chill. Everyone here helps out, but when your posts don't make sense we'll poke a little fun.

Sorry, I don't mean to seem unhelpful--it was just that we thought your response before was non-sequitur. As far as opinions, I'm sure you're read my review already. As far as the power supply, there is nowhere to buy one that is specifically meant for that unit--however you may have good luck finding a generic or other-branded supply that will do the job. Just make sure it's 18V DC, regulated, at least 200 mA, with a 2.1 mm barrel plug, center-negative polarity.

Wow Bongo, that is more like you
I am sorry to the others that it seemed to make little sense
To me, at least, it did.
I am kind of excited about finally getting one after all this time and it has been through the advice of bongo and others that i decided to get a compressor.
Thanx for the genuine ppl that tried to advise me, regards HowardH

I bought one of these pedals second hand and managed to find a suitable power adaptor in Dick Smith. It was a Dick Smith generic brand and had multiple "heads" for different sized plug holes. It also had a variable volt swith and could do 18 volts. Cost about $30 I think.

I'd love to tour Oz on a bike....that would be incredible.
I have a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500Fi......Can't afford a Harley!!

I find a power supply too cumbersome when playing live, as I don't use a pedal board.
So the compressor gets batteries......or stays at home, though I should start gigging with it again.
I'm getting lazy as I age and don't wish to haul much gear.
