Trademark/Historic amp & player tones... a clip database.

As with most things here on Talkbass there's a lot of words that get thrown around. Some that seem to confuse me most refer directly to different amp sounds when it comes to pedals, etc. What brought this on is that I've noticed that often one pedals or modellers settings for certain sounds seem to directly contradict what some other says a sound is supposed to be.

So... lets build a thread that collects examples of some of these sounds that everyone talks about so frequently, but remains mysterious to someone who may not be sure what they're supposed to be.

SVT

Fliptop

Bassman

Mesa

GK

etc etc etc

Please link some examples of what these historic core tones sound like without tons of effects, distortion, etc. along with a brief explanation of what that sound 'should' sound like.

Feel free to add ones you feel are warranted and I'll add them to the next post which will list them.

Thanks.
