Treasures From My Basement

Sign in to disble this ad
A few years ago a friend of mine decided to sell off most of his worldly possessions and move to Hong Kong for a year. He asked me if I wanted his music equipment for cheap. I gave him $50 for a box of pedals, a cheap acoustic and a cheap electric. Being a bass player, I've never been huge on effects - usually a chorus here and there, but not much else.

In an attempt to clean out my basement I started going through old boxes and found the pedals. I was going to sell them on Craigslist, but decided to look them up first. Man, am I glad I did. Here's what was in there:

Boss HM-2 MIJ
Boss CS-3
Boss OC-2
Ross Flanger (the big red one) - made in Kansas
Ross Distortion - made in Kansas

I think I may have struck gold! What do you guys think?

The OC-2 is more than worth the 50 alone. Score.

Gold indeed, but you should try them before you sell them.

I think I'm actually going to start using them, based on all the posts here. The flanger is a little big, but I might be able to make room for it on my new pedal board.

I think I wasn't huge on effects before, because I was in an original band before and didn't have as much a need. now that I'm in a cover band, it's a whole new ballgame.

Had you sold that OC-2 before you plugged it in, I would have been rather miffed with you.

Oh yeah, those are all in basically mint condition.

I wonder why the Flanger has its own three-prong cord.

Nice score! I would keep:

Ross Distortion > OC-2 > Ross Flanger

and hook them up in that order, turn them all on, and rock out!!

IMHO, sell the HM-2 and the Digitech. And the CS-3 kinda sucks without the Keeley mod.

Keep that HM-2, one of the coolest fuzzes of all time. Also, that Digitech is great for a lot of noise and looping stuff
