TRI AC VS GT2

So how much do these 2 sansamps differ?

How useful are the mic setting etc.

Is one better for bass than the other?

Cheers

I was also wondering how much they differ. Are your intentions to use it as a distortion? The mic and mod settings are nice features, and might be necessary if you want a clean tone, but the mid control and the programmability on the Tri AC are also good features.

why not just use the Sans Amp PDDI?
it's made just for bass, has 3 programmable settings like the tri-ac, and you can get a fine distortion out of it -without killing the thump like a gtr pedal might.

The lack of a para mid is the only thing that keeps it from being the perfect pedal IMHO.

I assume that was a typo and you actually meant the PBDDI, not the Para Driver. I own both the PBDDI and the GT2, the former is great for overdrive tones, but that's where it's dirt producing capabilities end. Even with the drive at full, it doesn't come close to what the GT2 can do and anyway, anything past 2-3 o'clock on the PBBDI results in too much loss of low end IMHO. Of the two, only the GT2 will get you some seriously heavy distortion.

As for the mic setting on the GT2, I only use the "center" setting. The "off axis" isn't much different but not quite as good IMHO, not as full sounding IIRC (haven't played with the mic setting for a long time). As for the "classic" setting from what I remember I didn't like that at all, it was at the opposite end of "center" (with "off axis" being in the middle somewhere).

If you want I can post some clips of each setting later on this week, I wont be able to do anything until Friday though since most of my gear's at our rehearsal space.
