triggered echo?

has anyone ever seen or heard of one? the idea would be to play a note, and then instead of having it die down like a normal echo, it played like it would on the first repeat at the same time as your next note. it would keep repeating notes for the same number of times as though it were a normal echo, except they would be replayed and whatnot with each new note...if that makes any sense...

So instead of having a set delay time, say repeating 10 times at 0.5 second intervals (for talking's sake), it would play a repeat each time you play a note? Have I got that right?

The closest thing I could imagine would be a multi-tap delay where you can specify how many repeats occur and the timing of each one. With that patch on the VF-1 I can have my delays play a particular rhythm, but that would entail tailoring your playing to the delay and not the other way round.

As far as I can figure, you want a reverse-ducking delay that restarts when you play. Either that or a rack delay unit with looping ability and a lot of midi control.

The closest I can think of with pedals I know exist would be by using two delays. One for the delay sounds, another with looping capabilities for the note retrigger. Maybe a loop station with a one-shot loop function would be better than the second delay... Anyway, you'd have to retrigger the original note with your foot, then turn off the loop again (unless it was a one-shot).

IMHO it would be far easier to just play along with the multitap like vk suggested or play chords into a delay. Also, would you want just the previous note to be replayed at full volume, or a lot of notes?
