True Bypass Flanger

Sign in to disble this ad
Is there any flanger out there that is advertised as an exact reproduction of the A/DA Voltage Controlled Flanger?

If not, which would be close?

If neither question can be answered, what flanger can be recommended by a lot of people?

Dodging those questions, since I don't know the answers...

That's like asking us to recommend an overdrive without telling us what you want it to sound like.

I guess if I knew what the A/DA sounded like, I could probably be more helpful.

BTW, your thread title is misleading...

Don't know about it being true bypass, BUT...

Here's a few links:

Here's an info site with soundclips: http://deadsmall.com/31J

Recent History:

January 2, 1996 ---ADA Amplification Systems announces the reissue of its original 1978 FLANGER. It is a true reproduction of the original 1978 floor pedal circuitry and packaging. Hailed as the king of flangers by music columnists and players, the ADA Flanger is capable of producing a wide range of vintage and modern sound colorations, dramatically enhancing the effect of any amplified instrument, voice or percussive device.
The unique capabilities of the ADA Flanger are numerous and astounding, including effects such as rotating speakers, chilling vibrato, "jet sounds," resonance modification, intensified studio flanging and incredible notch filter matrices, to name a few.

When people as about analog flangers, this one comes up often, I've seen it mentioned at the MOOG forum.

Hmm... so you're looking for something with the sort of manual flanging control (via expression pedal) that you find on the A/DA?

The Foxrox TZF (Through-Zero Flanger) and Lovetone ? (Flange with No Name) both have the inputs for that. Whether they'll sound like the A/DA, I'm not really sure, but they are without a doubt some of the most flexible flangers on the market, period.

Are there any flangers out there with true bypass switching?

That's it?

The EHX Stereo Electric Mistress (the new one) is true bypass. I believe the Foxrox TZF and Lovetone ? are, too.

None of the Boss, DOD, Ibanez, or Digitech ones are true bypass. Nor are the old Electric Mistress and Deluxe Electric Mistress.

I'm sure there's more, but those are the ones that come to mind at the moment.
