True Bypass Looper

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for a true bypass looper without the loud click from the footswitch. I just borrowed an Analogman one and the click was too loud in a live setting. Any suggestions?

the guy at loooper.com is pretty much out of commission from carpal tunnel, but
go to loopmaster.com to get some SWEET set-ups...solid, but not an overly loud click

Yeah... True Bypass = Loud pop. Its the nature of the beast. Im not sure what causes it? Voltage shift?

I actually wasn't hearing a pop like you're mentioning, I was more trying to avoid the actual click of compressing the switch.

I don't think that that's the site you meant.... Check it out for yourself.

For TBP with no loud mechanical click, you have to use relay switching. Lehle does that very well, but they're expensive, and I'm not sure who else is making relay-based TBP loops.

HA !!! yes, I guess the loopmaster is for fishing...

amazing what a dash can add...

PS... I have a loop-master with 6 individual loops, and a tuner out....and when I
was in my major FX days with my old band, it was quite the beast !!!!

Make sure you have good connections. I've made a few true bypass boxes and the only time I got really loud pops was when a cable wasn't plugged in all the way.

To reiterate, he's talking about the mechanical clicking noise of the switch mechanism when you step on it, not the electrical "pop" we associate with TBP switching.

I am working on a cranial implant that will switch pedals QUIETLY by just THINKING
about what sound you want.....it will revolutionize bass pedal switching forever....

Um, I'll be right back, my time machine needs more coolant......

I think Barge Concepts has one as well; and Keeley too.

Nah, both of them use 3PDT switches that make the loud click.

I had a loop master that did the same thing. My Barge Concepts dual buffered looper is silent.

Edit: oops ... you mean the mechanical click? Wow, you must have a really intimate gig if that is an issue. The only pedals that don't click are the boss/dod/ibanez style. In that case, go with Maxon effects, with true bypass and ibanez-style construction.

Not to be a jerk, but how on earth does the clicking sound of a footswitch disrupt the music during a live gig? I assume amps are being used if a pedalboard is involved.

I guess I'm missing something here?

Boston spots are very intimate. There are quite a few times when the people listening are butted right up to the band....not to mention I do find it annoying when the music is down low and I need to click an effect for the next section and all you hear is that loud "click" from the switch.

If you listen to Steve Lawson's early albums you can sometimes hear the click of his DL-4

Maybe you need to replace all your stuff with boss
