True bypass tuners???

Sign in to disble this ad
I have been using a boss TU-2 for years but recently had a engineer tell me to lose it - - he told me that it flattens out the signal, and that it wasn't a true-bypass. I removed it from my loop and, through the board, could tell he was right.

I love the mute function on the TU-2, but if it's degrading my signal, I don't dig that one bit. Does anyone here know of a complete signal bypass tuner they like?

thx

+1 Pitchblack from TU-2. We should start a club.

i'll be the oddball and recommend the peterson strobostomp II...it's accuracy far surpasses the regular pitchblack at plus or minus .1 cent compared to 1 cent (although there is a pitchblack+ model that's more accurate, i believe), so it's great for setups, giving me that function along with a stage tuner, albeit more expensive

--but i hear really good things about the turbotuner and i'd recommend looking at it as well

i fourth the pitchblack, but see unlike everyone else, it was my first tuner, had no idea it was true bypass when i got it, i just knew it was cheaper, and IMO looked nicer, than the boss.

The ST-200 stomp box Turbo Tuner is the best deal going. Small package, easy to read, true bypass, and the most accurate tuner available (.02 cent).

Myself, I use a Peterson StroboStomp, which is also true bypass, extremely precise, accurate to .1 cent and probably the easiest to use in direct sunlight of all the tuners. Has a built-in D.I. too. They show it being run over by a truck, with no damage to display or stomp switch, due to the design of the case.

Everybody around here likes the Korg Pitchblack,
which is accurate to +/- 1 cent. Looks nice to me.

Another +1 for the Strobostomp.
It's super accurate, and works great in sunlight or lowlight alike.

If you already own the TU2, its a quick mod to make it true bypass.

around here this guy does it www.fxdoctor.com but as he explains it on his page, it sounds like anyone with a little know how could do it pretty easy.
