ive been using pedals since about january. I've never bought a pedalboard i just stuck them in my bag with my chords. Im getting annoyed with having to reset my pedals everytime i set up.
I have a Digitech GNX3, a Boss DS1, a Boss CE5, a Boss TU2, and a livewire direct box I want to put on a board. I am planing on getting some more pedals possibly some danelectro cool cats, a mxr envelope filter, and a digital delay. I need sugestions on a board with a hard case that wont be overly heavy.

Just search pedal board in ebay. |

A piece of plywood painted black, with some added velcro is a great start; and you can fit it in a laptop case or suitcase for transportation.
Check this thread for build ideas: Let's see the best homemade pedalboard! Post em'
If you're not interested in building, check out pedaltrain or NYC pedalboards, both companies have a wide variety of sizes, so you can pick one that suits you!

My favorite premade boards are Pedaltrains and Lyt Pedalboards. Pedaltrains are nice if you want an angled board and a lot of space to wire your cables through. Unfortunately the cases are a bit heavy (the Pro case weighs a ton), although they'd survive a bomb blast. Lyt pedalboards are (as their name would imply) extremely light, including the weight with the case. Very nice boards (I became an endorsing artist for them, although that was only after owning a couple of their boards). |

Next, if you get a hard shell case, it won't be light compared to a soft shell case. Also factor in the weight of your pedals.
Also, if you get a pedal board with room for additional effects, save some money to fill it!
Good luck with your search.

You'd think they wouldn't be because of the weight and its thinness, but I had a ton of pedal weight on my last one and the thing wouldn't even bend. There's a video on YouTube of a guy reviewing his Lyt, and IIRC he shows how sturdy it is. It's obviously not going to be as sturdy as a Pedaltrain as they're aluminum, but it's as sturdy as you'd ever need a pedalboard to be. |
