Trying to get this type of growl

I've been trying to get this type of growl for awhile on my bass.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=jvYJYiZM8E8

Here are my equipments:

Bass: G&L Tribute L2500 with Rounds
Aria P/MM bass with Rotosound Stainless Steel

Amp: Ashdown Electric Blue 180

Effects: Zoom B2 multi effect
Boss 7 band Bass EQ
Boss bass Overdrive
Boss Limiter Enhancer

The bass guy in the video uses a Warwick bass.

Warwick basses have a very distinctive growl. How well you can approximate that with effects? That's hard to tell. My best advice is to save up for a Warwick if that is the sound that you want.

I tried to get that level of growl fo years with my Jazz bass and a Lakland 55-02, and I could not even with distortion and creative eq. in the mids, and I could not. I ended up buying a Corvette Std 5. I can't tell if that is a Fortress, or a corvette with a P/J or what it is, but it is definitely a warwick. I heard the growl before I saw the bass, and I knew it was probably a Warwick. Check out the Corvettes. I describe it as a jazz bass on steroids. The thumbs are supposed to be the growliest, but they have their own flavor. Some like the streamers. I like the corvette for the deep mid growl that is not over the top.

That's a warwick streamer stage II if I'm correct. Just save your pennies and buy one, otherwise you'll spend endless amounts of cash and time chasing your tail trying to get something that's tonally coming out of the bass. Used streamers seem to go quite cheap compared to their new prices.
