I've heard that these work well on bass, but have no first hand experience with them.

Check the price on the Bass Performer for what it does....destroys a Sansamp in functionality...

For $80, I am tempted to pick up the heated tube unit and see what it looks like in person.

These are all chinese made apparently. Wonder how they sound? I will check out the sample soon

FWIW, here is my review of the Mars "Bass Compressor King": Mars (Real Sound) Compressor King Bass

I'd bet most of it applies to their other pedals too.
