What are some options for a tube OD along the lines of the VT bass or Flipster? I’ve got a VT and I had issues getting a flipster. It would be extra cool if it was smallish in size too.

Edit: I don't know if I'm dreaming or what but I remember one day using my precious time in talkbass (as usual) I saw a thread about a tube OD pedal based in somekind of Orange Amp I think the pedal was white or something and was the only pedal of the page it sounded pretty cool I don't remember if its was bass specific but I'm pretty sure there were bass samples on the page anyone remembers or I just need to sleep more?

I'll let you know if it does a slightly hairy OD tone. I'll be running mine with a Barber Linden in a blues setting (pbass / heavy flats) to mimic (hopefully) the slightly overdriven amp sounds of a lot of the sixties blues records I love.

| | | | The Xotic BB bass preamp is apretty good OD, in that it can give you from cleanish to a bit of hair to light distortion, and you can boost the bass on it to mimic blooming tube amp bass. I use it with my Alessandro basset hound, I like it best with that amp since it's a non-master volume amp. I've also used the bass anlger and didn't like it, which sucks because I waited about 2 years on the list to get it. Another I've used is the hematoma, it sounds good, but I think it cuts bass, and at zero the drive is already driving if you know what I mean.
I hope this helps. Another I'd like to try and it comes highly recomened is the Bluesberry bass OD, you could put a LOT of bass on your overdriven notes, but try the Xotic you might find that it works for you.
Regards,

for lighter drive sounds, activate the pre/boost and roll it down |
