If you're getting an Ibanez definitely get the TS9DX. It's the most versatile for bass. If you're going boutique then good luck deciding, there's only a hundred to choose from.

I'd avoid the TS7, it kills the low end. Great for guitar though.

I wanted to add that the Keeley Baked Mod TS9 is great on bass!

what was it about the maxon that you found better than the ibanez stuff? personally, i don't care for a ts9, ts808 etc. but find lots of joy with the ts9-dx.

what does the maxon do that the turbo 'screamer can't?

Personally, and strictly personally, I don't really like the TS sound on bass very much....LOVE IT on guitar, but not bass...

for me, personally, I dig the "fuzz" sound on bass better than the "crunch"...so for me, a fuzz face is a better option.

BTW...
I'm thinking about getting an inexpensive Behringer TO800 to go after that "tuberscreamer-esque" sound for my guitar. The Zoom B2.1u does a passible job, but it's not nearly as pick sensitive as compared to an analog model, and I need that.

I can't get sounds close to a turbo tubescreamer with my B2.1u. Not enough gain, not enough depth, and as you mentioned, not touch sensitive enough. Funny thing, I hate the tubescreamer series on guitar and my background is guitar playing with vintage tube amps.

I have a TS808 (the reissue) that I use for guitar, but I hate any overdrive for bass. I could try to record some soundclips of it some time this week.
