Looking to add some Ampeg to my arsenal, but do not want that tone on every song.

Anyone w. the Tube Works Blue Tube O.D./Distortion ??? Can you get an AMPEG tone from it? There is one locally for a good deal.

What about Flipster vs. VT Bass. Which has the closer natural SVT tone?

Never tried the Tube Works.

As for the Flipster and the VT Bass, I actually like the tone of the Flipster more, but I think the VT is closer to true Ampeg tones, especially the SVT.

I played around w/one of these for awhile- it sounded nice but I left it plugged in for several days(idiot)and it fried the tube; replacement tubes now last like 12 seconds before also committing suicide. IIRC it was fairly Ampeg-esque, but even when it worked it was not happy w/the outlet I had it plugged into(very noisy). In retrospect, the outlet could have had some strange iss(VERY old house)or the pedal could have been bad from the get-go.
