Tube Works Real Tube pedal... No mojo...

Sign in to disble this ad
So I purchased a Real Tube Tube Works pedal. I cant seem to dial in a nice town. It seems like the thunder gets lost and it wont come back until I turn off the pedal. Ive tried the 12AX7 tube and the 12AU7 but I cant dial it in to my tone tastiness. I placed the pedal before my amp and in the effectes loop and it still loses the bottom end. It doesnt sound bad by any means, but it doesnt sound that good either.

Has anyone experimented with this pedal or can offer suggestions?

For a tube preamp that can easily be dialed in for unity low end at unity volume, I favor the EHX English Muff'n.

Yo

That pedal you have is a more agressively voiced version of the "Blue Tube" pedal which I own. A friend of mine had the Real Tube and I played along with them side by side.

IIRC the Real Tube was a bit higher voiced than the Blue Tube.

OK - reality is, even my Blue Tube robs some lows. Effects loop won't help unless you have a blend. That would help your situation - a blender pedal. That allows you to blend in your dry unaffected signal - which is why so many people here use one. Helps you maintain the lows that many effects kill.

IMO, the english muff'n isn't the answer. (No Offense) I had one and it didn't work for me at all. Blue Tube sounds way better for my setup, much lower voice. It has a built-in eq just like your Real Tube, but as you've already discovered the punch and lows from your normal sound is still missing, even if you dial up the low in the eq.

Blender is the solution for that problem.

Blender???... tell me more... I have a couple of effects pedals ie: sansamp, vdl sparkle drive, wah,... but tell about a blender pedal... name and model number so I can do some digging of my own. I think this would be a great pedal for some smooth creamy solo's but not at this current state unless I can give it some help.

thank you.
