Tuner > Compressor > VT Bass > Chorus > What else?

Sign in to disble this ad
Over the past year, I've gone from a full complement of EBS pedals to the Boss GT10B to the Zoom B2.1u, and now back to pedals. I reflected back on the effects I've used over the past two years and the only one that really sticks out is chorus/flanger for modulation.

I have 5 spaces on my Pedaltrain Mini, 4 of which are chosen...

Korg Pitch Black > BBE Opto Stomp > VT Bass > EBS UniChorus

What else would you put in this chain having only one spot left open?

I'm not a soloist. Plus, I have a footswitch boost on my G-K head. I think I may have made up my mind though. I just picked up a Digitech DigiVerb.

Do you use the VT as an always on effect?

For the most part, I do leave it on. I actually contemplated getting another one for dirt, and switch between the two, however a majority of what I'm playing is clean, and it wouldn't be a pain to adjust the controls between tunes.

+1 on leaving the VT on most of the time, that's what happened to me. I missed the warmer tone I get with the VT when I switched it off.

I have OD on my mini for when I want a little dirt. That way I don't have to adjust the VT.

Current chain:

Looper > Compulator > VT > AW3 > PL > CEB3

Retired a fuzz pedal from the chain. I also think Santa is bringing me Nano Small Stone that I'll try to squeeze onto the board. I also keep thinking about replacing my CEB3 with a Unichorus. Do you like yours?

I love the UniChorus. It's the best I've played.

I would suggest a phaser for another color of modulation, phaser can be very useful on bass.

I wouldn't enjoy playing without fuzz. It's a must for me.

I would also agree with a phaser. That or maybe a ring modulator, because it's just so different from everything else you have.

Or a Micro Pog.

Phaser, reverb, or delay. All can be had for cheap on ebay. A Boss DD-3 sits at the end of my chain and it suits all my delay needs.

Maybe he can't use it in his band, fuzz bass is hard to incorporate into a lot of music.
