Tuner + Distortion or Bass Floor Pod

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey...
not so new bass player here (i'm a guitarist, who just started playing bass for a band) ...
I need a tuner...i used to just tune to my bassist (n my old band) ...but these guys aren't too hip about giving me an E for much longer.. i joke about getting a pitch pipe...but i think i need a tuner...

i was looking at the Boss TU2 @ 99$ and saw the bass floor pod was 119...if i get the boss..i'd probably want a carrying case and probably want some distortion pedal eventually..

I already have a POD XT (it's about 5 years old) but the controls don't work on it and i have to control it by pc...

anyway..my question is...should i go with the Boss or the pod?

You're going to get much better tone and reliability with single pedals. Obviously, the POD is going to give you a lot more versitility, but if you only really need clean and dirt, that's not really a big factor.

Also, most of the guys on here will steer you towards the Korg Pitchblack. It's smaller, cheaper, and more accurate. Plus, it's true bypass, so it won't mess with your tone.

+1 to that. Although I kept my TU-2 on one of my boards, my main board has the Pitchblack. It is better, and cheaper. You'll want more than the 2, but multi's are lacking in quality sound. Get a Pitchblack, some dirt, then think about modulation and filters.
