tuner muting

i've just gotten a power supply chain for my pedals and have hooked them up together. However, whenever I click my tuner a loud pop sounds comes out of my speaker, like taking a cable out of the bass when the amp is on. My current order is Tuner -> boss overdrive -> swollen pickle -> boss chorus. I've read online that tuner's should go first, but I keep getting that pop sound. Am I doing something wrong?

Can you tell us a little more info?

1) what tuner?
2) what power supply?
3) does the tuner still pop if you have it at the end of your chain? Don't know where you read that the tuner has to go first, but it's not technically an effect so you can really put it anywhere you want. Last in the chain means it'll mute everything before it (some pedals are inherently noisy) as well as your bass.
4) does the tuner pop only when it's on the power supply chain or also when it's on a battery or individual power adapter?

What I suspect is that you might have a bum tuner, but a little more info would help us diagnose for sure. Maybe take it back and try another? I had similar issues with two separate Strobostomps (both from the same dealer). When I returned the 2nd one, I switched to a Boss TU-2, no more problems.

If the tuner is true-bypass, it's inherent in the design of most true-bypass systems that a pop can occur. (most notably in wah pedals IME) There are workarounds for this, but AFAIK not every company uses them.

Personally, I don't use my tuner to mute as I have an Ernie Ball Volume Pedal Jr at the end of my signal chain to act as a master mute when I am not playing. (it also functions as my means with which to create volume swells)

hey man thanks for the response. i'll give you more details...
it's a korg pitchblack that im powering with a one spot power chain. I hooked it up like this , instrument to korg pitchblack to boss overdrive to swollen pickle fuzz to markbass ta501 amp. I don't think it's a bum tuner, but the pop has come when i've ran the tuner through a di box. I have tried putting it at the end of the chain, but same problem. Also, I'm not sure if this is relevant, but my amp comes with a mute pedal option, where you can plug in an external mute pedal, but I don't have one.

That's odd. My PitchBlack is completely silent when turned on/off.

Does it still pop when you're not using a DI?

Could be a dodgy cable. check all your cables still have the ground and live commections intact.

all my cable are brand new. I checked all my connections. there's a way to directly connect my effects to the amp and when i plug my tuner in it works fine. I'm running through a markbass ta501. anyone out there with a similar amp and effects set up?
