I've been looking at the huge difference of price between the Boss chromatic tuner pedal and the Behringer chromatic TU300 tuner pedal, a difference of at least £50. But is there actually a difference in performance? I mean, a tuner is a tuner. It either tunes your bass or doesn't work, and the latter would lead it to not be sold. So I was wondering, if anyone knows, is there any difference between the two? I'd much rather spend £25 on a tuner rather than £75 on something that does the same thing?

Other than that, I can see that the TU-2 has a tuning accuracy of +/- 3 cents, but I cannot find any information about the tuning accuracy of the TU300. Otherwise, the TU300 is essentially a clone of the TU-2
Honestly, if the TU300 works for you, get it or get an even cheaper tuner like the Korg GA30 which has accuracy to +/- 1 cent, but not all the frills, whistles, and convenience of a pedal tuner sitting on your board. |

Anyway, another popular tuner is the Korg Pitchblack, so check that out too |

Lately though it seems like my TU-2 is always a little off the mark as far as tuning...its main function.

Korg Pitchblack would be my second choice, and with the price of the Korg I wouldn't even consider Boss or Behringer.

| | | | I don't understand the popularity of the TU-2 other than for the fact it says 'Boss' on it. It's not true bypass and it's not as accurate as other similar-priced tuners. The Ibanez LU-20 is great value - it's built like a tank, has a great display, is true bypass and +/- 1 cent rather than the +/- 3 cent of the Boss. Works well on bass too. |

I also selected the Korg because of my positive experience with Korg rack mount tuners in a number of recording studios; they seem very accurate... |

| | | | Korg pitchblack is a pretty nice tuner! Its compact and it doesn't suck your tone. It's written, that pichblack has true bypass. I don't know, whether it's 100% true or not, but I hear no difference in tone connecting my bass to my combo through it. And I definetly heard the difference in tone when I ran the signal of my bass through the DT-10.

My friend and I made a test... My Yamaha TRBJP sounded better when it was plugged directly to combo. When running through the DT-10 its tone lacked clarity, articulation and its character was more mid-oriented, the lower notes sounded a bit duller. In fact, the difference is not huge.

Owned the TU2 for about 5 years and the Korg is miles better in every way. |

If you run it in-line, like a stomp box, before the amp, and have it set to mute as you tune... there is a loud pop noise that happens when you disengage the tuner. What a bummer...otherwise, it tunes instruments quite well. |
