Tuner recommendation?

What do you guys like in the way of pedal tuners? Boss TU-2, Korg Pitchblack, Planet Waves CT-04 or other?

What about rack mounted tuners?

lots of folks will say the turbo tuner is the best, and it probably is. However, I have a pitchblack and find it's absolutely perfect for my needs, and is a bit cheaper. The Boss TU-2 really isn't that great (sucks a bit of tone, tuning isn't particularly great, still pretty expensive). The TU-3 looks to be a little better, but the feature set on the pitchblack still beats it with the true bypass alone.

Another option would be the TC Electronics Polytune. Everyone seems to like those too, and the polytune feature seems like it'd be pretty handy. The Planetwaves tuner is fine, gets the job done, and I'd probably choose it over the Boss TU-2, but when all is said and done, if i had to do this over I'd still choose the pitchblack.

Korg Pitch Black...dynamite tuner. Replaced my Korg DTR-2 rackmount when I went light-weight. Tunes down to E0 (where the low on my 10's reside). Very accurate and not finicky.

I have had some issues with an electronic tuner not tracking my low B string. I can't seem to remember which tuner that was at the moment.

Just went through the quest myself, my budget was under $100 though.

I went with
Boss TU-3; it tracks better, more accurate and brighter display than the TU-2.

I thought about Polytune (wasn't sure how durable it'd be) and the Korg Pitchblack (I've always dug my cheap pocket tuners from Korg)

I've got a Polytune and love it. It's incredibly handy to stomp it, strum and instantly know if you're in tune and if not which string is out and which way. Fast enough to check between songs comfortably.

Totally love my Pitchblack. The display is really useful onstage, and it's VERY precise (it won't tell you you're in tune if you aren't). Low B string tunes more steadily if I use the 12th fret harmonic. I would not go onstage without it.

I know they're often out of stock, but nobody's mentioned the GFS Electronics GFT-90 Tuner? The next time it's in stock I'm definitely getting one. Giant display, and really cheap compared to other tuner pedals.

If you can't afford a Turbo Tuner..I have two solutions, in order by my recommendation:

1) SAVE UP for a Turbo Tuner
2) Get a Korg Pitchblack

Sonic Research Turbo Tuner if you can afford it.

TC Electronic PolyTune if you can't.

The Turbo Tuner will tune just about anything that you can throw at it. If I had the know how, I'd get the stage model (ST-122) and use it to tune the piano at my church that is sorely out of tune. It also has amazing accuracy for a fraction of the price of a Peterson tuner and recognizes notes very very quickly. There are some videos of this on Youtube with it pitted against a Pitch Black, a TU-2, and even a Peterson. I'd never intonate my bass without one.

The TC is definitely road-worthy and has weathered very well with pretty heavy use being stomped on, dropped a few times, and is my absolute favorite tuner for guitars and instruments with a floating bridge (you know, the ones where you tune one string up and the rest go out of pitch, and you end up having to tune the strings multiple times to get everything in tune). It also works very well for bass, but just isn't as accurate as the Turbo Tuner. It however does detect the ambient light and will brighten or darken the display to make it easy to look at on a dark stage, or in sunlight.

Both really great tuners that really aren't all that expensive.

+1 on TC PolyTune!
An awesome tuner! Recently just picked up and using at no amp rehearsals.
As a tuner freak I also have a Peterson stroborack along with my amp.
I had 3! Pitchblack, Peterson Strobostomp2, Korg DT1000 and 2000, Boss TU2 all great!
You can not go wrong with any tuner
