I've never seen a tuner be so accurate, or handle low tunings. I had a bass setup for Eb0 and it had no problems.

+1 Pitchblack + I had the reg PB and loved it, gave it to a guitard that was always out of tune and got the PB+ for the A/B capability like PackHowie said, it's twice the size, which makes tuning easier for me. it's solid as hell too, good price, and quiet. plus if you use a sansamp or MXR m-80 or similar pedal with parallel AND line outs you can use the PB+ to select between them! like getting an extra true bypass switch!

another happy Pitch Black owner, but it's on my other pedalboard. using a cheap black Snark tuner on the bass & it works great.

I love my Pitch Black. Tracks plenty fast for me. Never malfunctioned. Always been reliable. Build well. Easy to read screen though not as much in daylight conditions.

+1. Same experience here, the Pitchblack is really great.

I guess the second one is better isn't it...

To me it is fair enough if you were talking in that lovely way about the first, and not about the second, intending that the first one is crap LOL

Sonic was faster with calculating the note. But my concern is accuracy, which im sure Sonic is as well. But Peterson has been around for a long time and wih the updated firmware I say pick peterson classic. Its built well, but its rather heavy for a tuner at least to what I have been using which were not strobe. Its about 2 pounds. Although 2 pounds isn't considered heavy but for a tuner it is. But it looks so cool.

I am using the Planet Wave Tru-Strobe myself and it is a great pedal. It is currently on sale at amazon:

Thanks to you all for the informative posts!
I searched for a Korg Pitchblack Chromatic Pedal Tuner / TC Electronic PolyTune thread.
Based on what I have seen, I am going for the PolyTune as it will be great in my new mini pedal board configuration in favor of the rack mount I've been hefting around.

the turbo tuner is more accurate than the virtual strobes; it doesn't need firmware updates, because its tuning part is analog.

the planet waves version is a poor copy, like a turbo tuner with down's syndrome.

sorry guys, you both missed the boat on this one.

(oh, and pitchblacks and polytunes aren't even in the same ballpark)

Sonic ST200 and Peterson Strobostomp here.

The Sonic is a steal at $129.

I own it and love it. I've gigged with it a bunch and always have a practice. Never had any issues.

The Sonic is actually more accurate than the Peterson. I had one, nice for what it is... big, doesn't track great, and hard to read in the outdoor sunlight.

If you dig it, cool, but if you can return it (as a former Peterson owner) you will be MUCH happier with the Sonic... much better build quality, faster better tracking, easier to see on stage, and actually more accurate (if you are using it for intonation and set-up). It is also about 30% of the size of the Peterson.

Edit: The only advantage the Peterson might have for some players is you can set it to stay on when playing. The Sonic turns off when bypassed (great for battery life!).

This is cool. It has the clean, simple design that I'm drawn to.
Thanks!

i have both the pitchblack and the polytune mini. i love the polytune. it tunes well and it is visible under sunlight, unlike the pitchblack. the pitchblack is a very accurate tuner though.

If you're buying a tuner, spend the scratch on one that you know will never let you down. That's most of the ones used around here.

I caved and bought the Sonic as my first. I plan on it being my last. And because it's so simple, you can use it to accurately tune ANYTHING.

I guess I'll be another vote for the Korg PitchBlack. I've been using one for 6-months now, and love it. Small enough to pack easily in my gig-bag, tough, easy-to-use. I haven't used it outside, so can't speak to it's visibility in sunlight (as others have commented), but find it easy to read and use inside.
