I wanted to buy the 122, but it's out of stock and I've found some old threads here that seem to indicate it's been out of stock for quite some time. So before I pull the trigger on the 200 I wanna know if there are any significant differences in the feature sets (besides the obvious that one is for the desktop and one is for the floor). I tried looking through the manuals on their website and that didn't clear it up for me. |

I haven't compared the two, but I will say I've been very happy with my ST-200. It's extremely accurate for tuning and setting intonation even on a B-string! My old TU-2 would jump around like a mofo, and the first time I used my ST-200 I was hooked.
Keep in mind I tune a half-step down using the Chromatic mode on the tuner, and I don't have any special considerations like Buzz Feiten tuning to worry about.

I've never used anything but the most basic features of a tuner, so clearly they'll both do that well. I guess I'm just trying to get a picture of what I'm might be giving up. Even if I'll never use the feature, for some reason I still need to know. |

They sent me an e-mail a couple of months ago saying that the 122's were finally in stock. Not sure if they updated their web page so you might want to contact them by phone or e-mail if you haven't already.

He said the ST-122 should ship in late July. It's gonna be in an aluminum case instead of plastic.
Primary difference is the 122 has the mic and does have some features better suited for a wider ranges of instruments with different temperaments (he kept mentioning the lute). He said for electric bass guitar I'm missing nothing and added the obvious stuff about a stomp box being sturdier and the auto muting, etc.
So thanks for humoring me guys, just placed the order for the ST-200. |

I was very impressed when I opened it up to put a 9-volt battery in it and there was already one in there (it's the little things). So far it does everything it's advertised to do very, very well. Every instrument I own is now in perfect tune. Something tells me when the aluminum-case 122 is available this summer I'll be getting one of those too.
And if it weren't for TalkBass, I never would have even heard of this tuner - so THANK YOU. |

i'm considering one of these as well, and had the same questions
previously when i had my peterson ssII, i've run it sometimes inline between my instrument and amp input, and sometimes from the 'tuner out' on my amp (when i had an amp with that feature)
tuner out was great when i had a DI off my amp, because i could mute with the amp to tune...but when using a DI box, i like being able to mute to FOH between songs
...tough decision, would like the mic option for acoustic instruments, but probably need the mute feature by having the stomp inline

Man it's so great getting away from cheap tuners with their simulated LCD needles that react ten minutes after you pluck the string and even then you can't really trust anything it's telling you. This one responds instantaneously and with this rotating strobe display, there is absolutely no ambiguity as to where you are. I'm gonna have my kids tune my bass for me from now on. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
