Turbo Tuner ST-200 consuming battery when off?

Sign in to disble this ad
Just received the stomp-box version of the Turbo Tuner.

Anyone know whether this pedal consumes battery from the internal 9V when plugged in, but "off" and not-tuning? It's supposedly TBP, and doesn't have a bypass/thru output...

p.s. I've never seen a tuner track a low B this fast before.

Nevermind. Got a ridiculously fast response from the company:

When the tuner is off the internal circuitry is completley disconnected from the power source and the signal path.

Ridiculously fast tracking and ridiculously fast customer support.

Nice. I'll be picking up one of these some day.

Excellent! Thanks for posting that. I was assuming there was no battery drain due to the 'true bypass', but wasn't sure.

Absolutely WONDERFUL tuner. I'm just blown away by it. I HATE putting anything between the bass and amp in my signal chain. I can hear absolutely no difference between 'direct' and with the tuner in-line. Wonderful!

And yes, finally a tuner that tracks an open B string literally identically to any other note. Wonderful!!!!

This tuner is the new standard that every company should build on. If I could, I would switch every TU-2 ever bought with a Turbo Tuner for a day and after that, let the owner choose which one they went back to.

That's good information to know. I always carry extra 9V's, but sounds like I won't need to change the battery for a while.

Is this the same with all TBP pedals??
ie. if I leave all my TBP pedals plugged in over night will all the batteries get drained?

The Electro-Harmonix Signal Pad is a true bypass pedal, and even when active, it requires no power except for the LED, which is optional. That says to me that any pedal builder worth his/her salt will design a TBP circuit to not require or drain power when bypassed.
