TurboTune ST-200 screen durability?

Sign in to disble this ad
All: I am thinking about buying a TurboTune ST-200. I've heard they are by far the fastest and most accurate pedal tuner out there. I've watched the youtube videos. I'm convinced it is a very nice tuner. I have only one question:

For those of you who actually own an ST-200, how tough is the screen? In terms of durability the screen looks a bit flimsy when compared to something like a BOSS TU2. It looks like one swift kick would destroy it. What do you think? Am I going to have to be careful with the screen or will it take a beating like the good old BOSS TU2?

Thanks!

It's actually like a slightly frosted clear protector on top of the recessed LEDs. If you're not wearing golf shoes, you're probably not a threat to it.

You know how the Boss has that piece over the LEDs? Do you worry about crunching that? If so, then I'd change into different shoes.

I have the ST-200 and I can't imagine it not lasting a long time and holding up to anything that isn't just plain abuse.

The Boss TU-2/3's are nice tuners too....really comes down to if you want/need a buffer in your chain....also the Boss will split your signal and can power other pedals. It can be very useful.

I chose the ST-200 though and have no regrets as I didn't need any of the Boss features.

I also own a ST-200. I'd say that it is very durable and unless you plan on stomping directly on the screen with your heel, there shouldn't be much concern with it breaking.

However, should you plan to stomp any pedals with your heel, regardless of where you are stomping them, then you'd want to rethink how you are engaging effects in the first place.

even if you did carefully step over the switch and stomp on the screen with your heel, it is both recessed from the top of the pedal and held in place by those four protruding bolts, so your heel won't actually hit it (unless you're wearing spiked high heels, in which case we should be having an entirely different conversation )

i'll echo the others and say that after maybe 6 months of owning one and gigging with it extensively i can't imagine any way it could easily be broken. very well built, imho, and i'd recommend one to anyone.
