Turning several pedals into one...

So...

Recently started using pedals, and already I have GAS and wanted some input from you more experienced effects heads.

I have a Aguilar Octamizer, a Tone Hammer, an MXR analog chorus and a biyang fuzz which actually sounds great in the effects loop of my amp. I still need a filter.

My question is, can I buy an EHX BMS and get rid of all of these? Or would the BMS only really make the Octamizer and yet to be bought filter redundant?

Thanks!

If you're using them all for one synth tone, it's possible that it could replace the Octamizer, filter, and fuzz - but it isn't likely. BMS has its own sound that is hard to replicate with other pedals, but it is also hard to replicate other pedals with the BMS. The chorus needs to stay no matter what. The Tone Hammer, as a preamp doesn't seem to fit into this discussion as much as the others.

The filter is always applied to the octave and fuzz tones, so that is where the tones of other pedals become hard to cop.

Might not even make those redundant. All pedals sound different. Having added the Micro-synth, you may like what it does, but still prefer the Octamizer for the octaver sound.

It's the kind of thing you'd have to try for yourself. If you find the BMS does everything you want, at that point you could get rid of the others. But I have a feeling that you'll want to hold on to some (if not all) of what you already have.

The octaves on the BMS are fantastic but the filter section is not envelope controlled so it doesn't work like most envelope filters. Also, the square wave is much less adjustable than pretty much any fuzz on the market.
