TWA Little Dipper for bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Looks like a cool filter pedal, has that Talk Box/Sweet Emotion " vowel" tones going on..
I've only seen demos for guitar
Anyone tried it on bass ?
Decent results ?
I'd live to hear feedback about the pedal
Since I havnt seen many bassists using it here, I was wondering if I'd be better off with a Mutron or GR2, or something else.
I'm really into the tone,it seems different than other envelope filters, but I'd order it mail order and it's $200,

I have a TWA Little Dipper. It does sound cool on bass. Not really an effect you can use a whole lot, but nice to have in the arsenal. Alot of cool different sounds can be found with it. It is a bit pricey. EHX is due to come out with something similar very soon, EHX.com | Stereo Talking Machine - Vocal Formant Filter | Electro-Harmonix I am interested in that also, looks to be similar. If you would like, I can record a few clips. There are also a few clips on the Godlyke website...... Lapicide

Anyone try either of these fx on bass?
TWA Little Dipper
or
EHX Talk ?
I'm really curious
I live the voice box effect but hate how they rattle the fillings in your teeth.. They seem really harmful, the pressure hitting your teeth like that, I tried on in the 80's and said," never again"
But the TWA definitely gets that Sweet Emotion vibe.. I love it

I haven't tried it (I still want to) but I HAVE tried the old Colorsound Dipthonizer which I believe the TWA is based on.

Very cool sounds and really fun to play with. It's a formant filter and not a talkbox so it gets some vocal tones, but not exactly the same as a talkbox or vocoder. If you just want to get in that ballpark though, it will do it especially with the dirt added.

As expected it will cut low end but the Little Dipper has an internal trimpot for a clean blend so you can keep some low end.

The XOTIC Robotalk II also does a sort-of "talkbox" thing - just tune the 2 filters to taste...
