Two popular guitar drives (Bad Cat and Fuchs) on bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Lately I've been looking at a ton of drives; most are only meant and demo'd for guitar. Two I especially like are the Bad Cat 2-Tone ($350) and Fuchs Plush Valve Job ($260). Have any of you gentlemen tried either with bass?

Thanks.

I don't know what responses you'll get - but the final arbiter is your own ears. When it comes down to it, you play what you like the sound of.

Thanks Pilgrim, of course you're right. For what it's worth, I emailed Fuchs about this and a fast response came back that suggested I buy from somewhere with a return policy and give it a shot. So... I may do that.

(by the way, based on what I've been interested in I've ended up finally registering at TGP. a great resource and a very active classifieds section and I suggest checking it out to any curious bassists)

The Bad Cat X-Treme is pretty cool sounding, but does seem to lose a little low on a lot of the settings. It's really voiced for guitar too, so your guitarist might get a little pissed if you rob all their tonal space.
AND it's one helluva huge shaving mirror!

Never played with the 2-tone.

I happen to live in the same town as Andy Fuchs... maybe I should drop in on his shop and give the PVD a test drive sometime this week. I'll be taking my 4 string (EMG-HZ's w/active 3 band pre) if I end up going.

Thanks guys, I'll post back if the time comes that I can give either of these a shot. Pitbull, if you wanted to do that, it would be awesome!
