I finally received a long awaited package from musicians friend last night- a brand new mxr blowtorch. I took it out of the package and the first thing I noticed was the blowtorch button was broken! I can only describe the button's appearance as being 'limp'- presumably from not being connected somewhere on the inside. I took the bottom plate off to have a look see if I could reattach whatever was loose. I'm no electronics expert but it looked as if the mechanism soldered to the pc board was not properly attahed. anyone else have this issue with their mxr/musicians friend purchases?

The only problems I've had with them was when I ordered an EHX Bassballs, and it took 3 weeks longer to get to me than it was supposed to. Other than that, everything I've gotten from them was on time and in good shape.
You should be able to send it back for free, and if not, MF sucks and caters only to guitards!

MF does suck. A lot. Almost everything I've bought from them (we're talking thousands of dollars over the years) has arrived extremely late, often broken or missing parts. Some came with boot-prints on them. Some came in torn-up packages. Some were items that someone else had returned for being faulty, so they sent it to me, pretending like it was new and in working order. Of course I sent it back since it was broken, but then they would send the EXACT SAME broken item back to me like I wouldn't notice. I've even gotten a few packages that were already open. It literally was wide open when it arrived at my house. I can't count how many packages they've completely lost... definitely more than 5.

I hate MF and refuse to shop there. They disgust me.

I think issues like your limp blowtorch should be handled on a medical forum. Bass players are uber-smart, but let's leave this to the real experts.

Have you tried calling the good folks at Dunlop?

I had a similar problem where straplocks I got through MF were missing a part. I called Dunlop, and the nice lady at the end took care of things. I live about an hour from their HQ, so I had the part the next day, along with some swag.

I know the company fairly well through my own day job. They rock. Give them a call :-)
