Looking at the spring loaded mechanism, I'd say its an early electric bass drum pedal. There doesn't appear to be an input, just the xlr out.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. Especially since it's very common for a trigger to need a three-wire cable, but very very uncommon for a voice module or effect to have a balanced output.

yeah... that makes sense. the company name (Magnesium Guitars) and the model name (Shark Bass) had me thinking it was something else. meh.
