Uncontrollable Micro Q-Tron Output--Need Help!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

I've had an EHX Micro Q-Tron for a while now, and I'm STILL trying to figure out how to get a fat "slightly opened" envelope sound without having the output skyrocket. I'm running an active bass through the pedal, with the "Q Control" at about 2 o'clock and the "Drive" at about 10 o'clock. It's the sound I want, but it's WAY too loud. Like hitting a boost pedal. To balance the wet/dry volumes, the effect is basically non-existent. My guitar player, who has the Mini Q-Tron, has tried to help me, but we can't figure it out. Anyone had the same problem or know what to do to fix it? Thanks TB'ers.

Haha, yeah I guess so. But the dry volume is fine, it's when the pedal is in effect that the output gets to be too much. I could turn the volume down when I engage the pedal, but I'd prefer to find a less annoying solution. I don't want to be turning the volume knob every time I switch my effect on/off.

Add a volume control to the Q-tron. It's not that hard to do. I used a 1 Meg pot, converted it over to true bypass and solved my volume issue in less than 1 hour.

A limiter might help. You'll want a good one to not suck the life out of the Micro-Q.
