Undulation effect . . .?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just tried out an Eventide Mod-Factor, and was BLOWN AWAY by the Undulation effect. Pure sonic heaven - at least to me. Thing is, I thought the rest of the effects were just OK. Damn good, actually, in keeping with the Eventide tradition. But I already have pedals that cover that stuff. I just want the undulation effect.

I tried a phaser with a little reverb - which was the only thing I could think of - but it was no go. Not even close.

Anyone have suggestions?

Tks.

I don't know how many TBers have used the Modfactor enough to help. There are probably a few, but if you can describe the sound (or better yet find a clip) then you'll get a lot more helpful responses.

Here's a clip to the ModFactor demo. It's a but of a pain in the a__, but I think it's worth it for anyone to check out, really. Damn nice stompbox, IMO.

Click TAP to bank 5, click Active, and then Slow/Fast.

Wow, even the demo sounded awesome. Without even playing one, the ModFactor was added to my G.A.S. list instantly. *sigh* I just can't seem to get ahead... I bought two pedals from my list this week and the ModFactor makes the second I've added to my list this week, too. lol

Jhan, you're right... that Undulation effect is sick. It sounds like some quick Ping-Pong delay with some Hall Reverb would come close? I wish I could give it a try and record a clip, but I currently don't have any reverb... sorry.

5sg.

Edit: D*mmit! PitchFactor added to G.A.S. list too! lol

The Eventide boxes are very cool but I always feel the same way - I don't want to trade all my modulation effects for it but otherwise it seems like overkill if you are only using it for 2 or 3 effects.

As for undulation, it's definitely got reverb, but the reverb is being modulated. It also seems touch sensitive. If I was going to try and get that sound, I might try a chorus or lightly set flanger (maybe my George Dennis) into a reverb and then either put both of them into the loop of something like Toadwork's Enveloope.

Or maybe put a volume pedal before the chorus/flanger & reverb and run them in one side of a Boss LS-2.

Now I haven't tried either of those combinations, I'm just thinking of how I might start trying to match that sound.

Would it be possible to run one effect into another with this pedal? for example, a phaser into a tremolo?

I'm almost positive that you can't. I think TC is coming out with some competition with will be able run or patch effects into each other.

Agreed on all of this. If I'm gonna drop $400 on a box, it better be something special.

I'm waiting for the Pitch Factor....that's what Eventide has long been known for so I'm hoping it will be a stomp box of pitch-harmony-sonic bliss.

Not sure I understand what you mean... Would be sweet to be able to combine multiple patches with the Modfactor though.
