Universal Power Supply

Hey, I'm looking for something to power my pedals that will work from 110 volts to 240 volts. In other words, I am looking for something that would work in say... England and also the U.S. since I travel alot.

I just need it to power 9V pedals, like my sansamp PDDI, Nano small stone, and in the future an EHX Stereo Memory Man, and Dunlop Bass Wah.

Does anyone know of anything that would work for this... or am I stuck with buying adapters in each country and daisy chaining?

Thanks in advance,
Dan~

Hi Dan,

I had the same problem years ago and I adapted a small switch mode power supply to do the tast. I fitted mine in an IP-56 dicast aluminium case with an IEC input connector (same as the 3 pin power connector on a PC) and an illuminated mains switch. The cost was well under 100 bucks and that was 20 years ago.

A typical PSU module is like the ones in the link below:

http://www.trcelectronics.com/9-volt...ow-all-1.shtml

It will still need to be cased, a mains isolation switch installed and a muffin fan for cooling etc. If you use an IEC 3 pin mains connector like the one used on a computer you'll find that getting a lead to fit anywhere in the world will be easy. Just specify you require a lead in the gig rider.

Also if you hunt around on google you'll probably find one that's already got the IEC connector installed and is cased, in which case it's just a matter of some creative butchery with a soldering iron and a multimeter to get the right output connector on to the psu.

If I'm not mistaken, both the Visual Sound 1-Spot & the Godlyke Powerall can do that...

+1... the 1 Spot and Godlyke Powerall can do that - all you'd need is the appropriate adapter plug for that country. They're digital power supplies, from what I understand, which is why they're able to pull that off.

Thanks for the info, didn't realize the 1 spot had an inbuilt transformer.

It's pretty sweet that theres a clip adapter so I can power my big muff.

One questions is that some of my effects are center negative like the nano small stone, and stereo memory man. Will the 1 spot work for them?

Cheers,
Dan.

All power supplies do. The 1 Spot is just a unique breed of them:

Most pedals on the market are center-negative.

Also, those two pedals (I'm assuming you're referring to the Hazarai version) have Boss-style jacks. Again, center-negative.

What about the BBE Supa Charger? Works both in 110-230 volts countries.
