HI ALL!

itīll be nothing like i picture it to be....
(neil youngīs zuma reference...)

any way, its like a tremolo, but insted of changing pitch... it changes output volume...
an example is nancy sinatraīs bang bang guitar...

Haha! That is tremolo. The terms "tremolo" and "vibrato" got mixed up on some classic Fender amps and also mixed up with the marketing of whammy bars, but the correct definition is: tremolo is modulation of volume, vibrato is modulation of pitch.

There are lots of great tremolo pedals out there, and they do not need to be bass-specific, there is usually no loss of low end with a tremolo.

If you search on tremolo here you'll find plenty of recommendations, but the two best that I've used were the Aramat Tubular Tremolo and the Guyatone Flip VTX.

So yeah, search for tremolo. There are several good threads on them. Personally I love my Frostwave Blue Ringer for such an effect and use it thusly quite a bitly.

EDIT: Con sarnit, that bongo got me again! *throws hat into the dust*

a vibrato would probably be marketed as a chorus.

A vibrato is technically half of a chorus pedal.

Some standalone vibrato pedals exist, but I personally don't like the effect by itself. I'm all for chorus pedals and pitch bending, but there's something... unsettling about plain vibrato.
