TC Electronic has announced Nova Modulator and Nova Dynamics, two new guitar pedals in the Nova Series which they say is known for uncompromised studio quality effects in a compact floor-based design.
Nova Modulator houses two brand new effects plus all of TC’s modulation effects, and they say that its dual engine design allows for endless combinations to inspire creativity. Nova Dynamics features studio and stomp compression modes as well as a noise gate combined with very flexible routing, which TC say gives the user full dynamics control and versatility.

Nova Modulator
Nova Modulator offers seven studio quality modulation effects; chorus, the new tri-chorus, flanger, the new through-zero-flanger, phaser, tremolo, and an upgraded vibrato. The chorus, flanger, phaser, and tremolo effects are taken straight from TC’s acclaimed G-System. The new tri-chorus effect uses three stereo choruses with various offsets for depth, speed, phaser and chorus delay time to produce a unique, broad and lush chorus sound. The new through-zero-flanger reproduces the classic tape flanging sounds of the 60s and 70s, and the upgraded vibrato features a new ramp that allows the user to fade in the effect.

The two identical effect engines allow the user to combine two different modulation effects or to combine two identical algorithms for a more extreme and pronounced effect. The LFO synchronization ensures that the two engines are synchronized in time, and the new LFO trigger makes the effect start right on the beat when activating the pedal. For preset control there is one manual setting that always outputs the current position of the knobs and buttons, as well as nine storable presets. Other Nova Modulation features include tap tempo, auto input gain adjustment and stereo in/out.

One for Bongo

Nova Dynamics
Nova Dynamics features a unique combination of a stomp compressor providing classic pedal compression, and a studio compressor which TC tell us allows totally transparent dynamics control usually only found in high-end rack processors. They say that, adding the noise gate and the ability to insert these effects any place in the signal chain, Nova Dynamics offers a compelling alternative to rack-based setups as well as two separate compressors.

The dual engine design makes it possible to switch between two different compression sounds or settings for different guitars. The dry blend feature enables the user to mix in dry signal along with the compressed signal for unaltered attack, preservation of playing dynamics and limitless sustain. The input gain adjustment known from the Nova Delay and Reverb pedals are also included, but because of the dual engine design Nova Dynamics actually has two separate calibration engines making it possible to insert one engine in front of the amp and one in the loop. Because of the many different routing options it fits well in a straight serial setup as well as a setup with total separation of the two engines.

For you Moog Fans

The new MP-201 Multi-Pedal from Moog is a programmable four channel CV/MIDI foot pedal controller. It has four analog control outputs, MIDI In & Out and USB connectivity (MIDI over USB). It can transmit controller information on up to 4 MIDI channels and CV outputs simultaneously.

Each CV output can be programmed individually. Signals can be foot pedal controlled analog control voltages with +/-5V limits, LFO waveforms or GATE voltages (0V=Off,+5V=ON). In addition, each channel can output MIDI CC’s over specified MIDI channels simultaneously with the analog CV outputs.

Pricing and Availability:
$499.00 USD

Tremelo

gig-fx has launched Pro-Chop which they describe as the first pedal ever to enable a musician to get precise and repeatable tempos for tremolo / chop / pan effects. The pedal obviates the need for fiddling with rate controls or dancing on tap tempo buttons in order to get the tempo right.

The pedal provides two ways to achieve precise tempos: by expression pedal while looking at the frequency read out, or by MIDI sync.

For the visual setting, there is a blue LED back-lit display that shows the frequency, either in Hz or in beats per minute (BPM). gig-fx tell us the display is easy to read on stage. So, if you have a favorite song that starts with a chop or tremolo sound, you can always get the tempo precisely by selecting the exact frequency as required. The onboard expression pedal allows the musician to change the frequency on the fly and the display will show the frequency as the pedal is moved.

The second method, and most precise of all, is that the Pro-Chop can sync with any PC recording, drum machine or synth that has a MIDI clock output. When syncing with a given MIDI clock beat, you can choose to allocate 1.2.3.4 or 8 chops / pans / tremolo waves to each MIDI beat allowing a wide variety of sound patterns. Whenever the device is turned on, it will be in perfect sync from the first note.

In 2006, gig-fx released the best-selling Chopper pedal, a tremolo /chopper / stereo panner pedal whose frequency can be controlled by an on-board expression pedal. The pedal has become a favorite for creative musicians, including Tool on their 10,000 days CD, Adrian Belew, Prince and others. The Pro-Chop takes the concept one step further and allows the frequency to be set either by means of the expression pedal (while viewing the LCD read out) or by utilizing a MIDI clock sync.

The Pro-Chop opens up a whole new world to guitarists and other musicians who want to produce repeatable and trance-like grooves or pulsating effects that are in perfect sync with any track. Given that the unit provides two oscillating stereo waves that can be combined and sync’d in a variety of ways, a myriad of grooves and rhythmic pulses can be generated. The pedal can also generate echo-emulations and the most realistic stereo Leslie effect with foot control of the rotation speed.

All gig-fx pedals are housed in road-worthy, lightweight aircraft aluminum castings featuring a patented, ergonomic shape and are manufactured to the highest standards featuring a true analog signal path with transparent bypass.

Pricing and Availability:

MSRP $349.99, estimated street $299.

From what I'm seeing say you ran a bi-amping rig you could comp each chain differently only issue with this pedal is the power I would guess.

That Moog pedal seems sweet, it would definitely save some space and add some options if you had a bunch of Moogerfoogers and expression pedals (like I soon will)

Of course I''ll have to try that comp, you know me, but I have to say I am initially turned off by their parameters of "stomp" and "studio". A good stompbox comp should be nothing but a good studio comp with minimized features and parameters. Some of the most popular studio comps are not transparent at all. So I hope what they labeled "stomp" is a very colored, effect-y processor; if it's just a lame digital Ross clone then every cent of that product, from design to marketing to end purchase, was wasted.
