I used to own this pedal and like a fool got rid of it. I've been on a massive GAS binge and went through three different sansamps (paradriver and two bass drivers), a radial tonebone and various other pieces of mid/high end eq pedals. This binge has left me unsatisfied so I decided to come back to the little Boss pedal and now appreciate it more than ever. I can honestly say the Boss GEB-7 is the best in terms of headroom, noise, tone control and overall tone of the eq pedals I have tried. The noise is so low that it is buried in my mixer's noise (a decent Yamaha), the other pedals were not. I found this true even when the eq was flat and the level was cranked. Of course, as the high frequencies are boosted the hiss comes up. The choice of frequencies seems fine to me, although others may find a need for more (like on an MXR 10-band which I have not tried).
I played a gig with this and loved the tone and control it gave me, especially to dial in from the acoustics of a room.
I'm using a USA P bass with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders by the way. I go direct to the board through a Jensen equipped DI.
