Unsure if i should get a Sansamp Bass Driver Deluxe or VT bass deluxe

Sign in to disble this ad
Whats everyones view on this subject because i know it's been mentioned before a few times here and there. I want to use either as a pre-amp not just a distortion pedal. Since i don't really like my amps settings im just going to bypass all of the e.q. and stuff on it and use either of the pedals for my well amp sound if you like. because the bass driver dosn't have a mids knob does it get lost in the mix? and if I were to switch on a mid based distortion pedal before running it into the bass driver will this decrease the mid response?
also with the VT bass, can you only get harsh distorted tones out of it? or can you have clean settings?

thanks for any info

both do clean, both have plenty of mids if you know how to work the knobs. the difference is whether you want an ampeg tube amp/cab sound or a less ampeggy version of it.

I love them both, and I use the older bass driver..I think the VT Deluxe is much more versatile. Its only a Few $$ more.
The real advantage of for the older bass driver is that you can find them cheap used, cause everyone wants a VT!..

i just got a RPM in mint condition for $260 shipped and its been a huge difference for me recording direct with my audio interface to my pc and with my ****** behringer amp. A big step for me in acheiving my Geddy tone(s) and a wild variety of similar tones to experiment with. While it does have that Sansamp sound, it does really color each of my basses in a unique way. It really brightens the sound and tone of the bass which is what i really love about it. And to really hear that cool Sansamp drive power u gotta play with the drive a few click back from where it will start to clips out, and adjust you other settings from there. Also be sure to have you blend all the way up or just a tad back from max.

i just like the fact that the RPM is bigger with more output options and bigger knobs for more precision in dialing in tones.
