Upgrade from PX4D to PX5D or PodXT?

Sign in to disble this ad
Sorry, I don't know if the modeler questions go in this forum or amps...

Anyway, I have been using a PX4D for a month but I'd like to upgrade to something a bit better, with better sound, a bit more effects (real life effects, please, I don't care for "Canyon" much).

PC connection via USB is a plus with the PX5D, and I feel I would feel at home with it, but I have listened to Youtube videos using both Panderas and PODs and the PODs seem to have a better sound. It also seems that people can take their POD to rehearsals and even gigs and use it as a convincing effect rack.

So what would you be your advice?

How about considering different brand?

Different models of the same brand should be using the same algorithms to process the sounds so I would think they will sound about the same.

If you want a better sound, perhaps looking for a processor of a different brand may be a better choice.

EDIT: I just realized PD is the pandora and POD is the Line6 silly me! but year i mean if you don't like the PD4, then a PD5 may not be a good idea, a different brand like the Line6 will be a better choice.

Thanks.

I wonder if anybody has tried or even owned both brands?

Hi there,
I have the Korg PX4b and I have owned all the different bass pod's from Line 6. I like the Pandora for practice. The amp sims in that little box sound better to me than most practice amps, especially through a good set of headphones. Now for live use I always thought it was lacking. It just didn't seem to sound as good going through an amp. They may have fixed that on PX5D but I've never used one so I can't comment. It does look like they added a bunch of features though, USB, foot switchable, etc
But I really enjoyed the pods. My problem was that I could never stop tweaking! I was always messing with something, compressor, overdrive, chorus you name it. So many possibilities. I think the Pods have a step up on the Pandora's for live use. Just my 2 cents. Take Care,
Brent
