Valvecaster (DIY tube-based overdrive) for bass

Any TB'ers used the Valvecaster (or a variation) with bass? I'm thinking about this circuit for my next build project, so I'm curious if others have tested this with their bass rigs and can offer any feedback.

** For those not familiar with it, the Valvecaster is a simple overdrive circuit using a 12au7 tube, meant to be run off of 9v-12v. 4 resistors, 4 capacitors, 3 pots in the original circuit, though there's plenty of room for modification.

Yep, I slapped together a quick point-to-point version. I thought it sounded pretty good, maybe just a little farty on the lows. Apparently, you can play with the cap values to get rid of that. In it's stock form, it's definitely a light overdrive.

I built a variation of the Subcaster and turned it into an awesome OD pedal. Runs off of 9V.

I built one, but it didn't sound good at all. Just like your typical OpAmp/Diode-based OD. Didn't justify the size + battery consumption. So I didn't toy around with it more. ("Stock" it cuts a lot of low end.)

HI. I made the valvecaster using a 12au7 tube and it sounds really nice on my passive Fender Jazz bass,. I did a mod however, which allows for more low end to come through the pedal. Thius circuit is originally for guitar. However im getting warm, tube overdrive and use it alot
