Verellen Meat Smoke tube pre amp pedal!

Looks like Verellen is going to make a pedal version of the pre amp from their Meat Smoke and Skyhammer amps! They've got a Kickstarter set up for "pre-orders", so you get $200 of the retail price:

Really stoked on this. I do a lot of touring by flying out and playing on borrowed gear. I normally use the Rusty Box into power amp in of whatever amp I'm using, but this might be another option for those situations.

Here's a full demo that was posted:

I think of this as something more along the lines of hte Alembic F-1X or F-2B but in pedal form. Those retail new for over $1,000.

I'll do it for the T-shirt.
Seriously though, it sounds amazing, wish I could afford it.

Maybe it's best not to think of this as a distortion pedal, but as a preamp that comes in a pedal instead of a rack (a la the Rusty Box). How much would you expect to pay for a hand built tube pre amp?

This is a cool preamp pedal not a dirt pedal. Although it could probably get some nice grindy tones. I would compare it to a Fender-ish JGR Pre.

I could see this on my board as last in the signal chain, running to a power amp then a cab onstage, and using the dedicated recording out for a DI to the house. Might replace a few things on my board as well.

I've bought some excellent ones for under $400. Don't get me wrong, I understand the potential value of a handcrafted item vs a factory item--but even at that, I've seen plenty of competition for hundreds less.

Exar's business is on hold for now. I will still help previous customers.

Should be a minimum pledge of $200 with an option to buy more at $250-325 each plus personalized extras.

I'd bet they sound great but as a fundraiser they could get a lot more traction with an incentive to drop big dollars for personal gain.

I'd much rather be putting that money towards a timeline. Just sayin...

I'm just not a huge fan of Verellen in general. When Russian Circles made the switch to Verellen, it just turned their sound into muck IMHO.

this would be ideal for me when i don't want to lug around my meat smoke. I'm really tempted.

like to loud? or to gritty? on record or live? I was reading somewhere else and someone had a similar opinion comparing first 2 albums to the last 2. I would agree that I liked Mike using Sunn amps. but whatevs.

Can't say i know Verellen gear at all, other than seeing a couple of bassists using the heads live and just thinking they had ALOT of power and were very loud. That pedal did sound pretty damn bad ass in the demo vid i gotta say.

That price is absurd.
