Vortex flanger?

Has anyone used the TC electrons vortex flanger? I'm kinda interested in picking one up but would love to hear a few opinions first. How is it compared to the Boss BF-3? Tone wise, versatility, etc. Thanks everybody

I bought one recently to replace my beloved BF-2 because it eats too much lows from my bypass signal and on my board there is no room left for an extra looper.

Soundwise not the same as the BF-2 but after a bit of tweaking close enough that I can live with it. The effect is more audible in the mix than the BF-2 but not as warm.
As a bonus you get kinda two pedals in one with the tone prints, I love the Mark King tone print!

It also sounds pretty cool on fretless basses and upright basses.

Thanks guys. I think I might try to pick one up to replace my BF-3. I want something with true bypass

i picked one up a while back & am a bit dissapointed with it. there's something stair step & not smooth about the sweep to my ear. TC announced the Toneprint Editor & i wanna give that a shot before i decide to dump it.

Yeah i'm not totally sold on it but i'm thinking about it. I like the bf-3 but i feel like it colors my tone too much when I kick it on. Not to mention it lacks true bypass.

The vortex flanger is a true bypass pedal and it doesn't seem to color your bass tone that much. I think it's a safe buy if you want an analog flanger pedal.

I've been trying out some of the vortex toneprints on my amp. All of them were designed for bass. Some were subtle others were deep and sweeping. The lows and low mids were still present. They sounded nice to me, enough so that I'm working towards purchasing the pedal.

Really? it's digital?...I would of thought that the tone print pedals from t.c electronic are analog pedals. okay, but even though they're really digital pedals, these pedals do have decent sound quality. I once thought of purchasing a t.c electronic dark matter distortion pedal cause this pedal sounded awesome on bass. it has a pretty cool grind sound. here's a clip of the dark matter distortion pedal on bass.

I know I'm a little confused about that. I would of thought that it was analog because most stomp boxes are analog and this pedal does seem to sound like it has some warmth to it. well if it's really digital, that's cool. personally it doesn't matter to me if certain pedals are analog or digital...it's if they have a pretty cool sound. that's all it matters to me.

I got it as well and love some of the toneprints ("Desert Flower" and "Tom"). I'm going to experiment with it on upright. Would this go before or after my chorus?

As long as you don't use them together at the same time you don't care. But typically flanger behind chorus....but then again....
