Walrus Audio - Janus

This thing caught me eye yesterday. Interesting controls

And they are local guys to me.

Yeah, would love to try one. The demo showcases some pretty cool sounds on guitar and keys...
The biggest drawback to me are the joystick ends... why not a ball end?
Would've been so much easier to control with your foot...it's a pedal after all.

I emailed the guys at Walrus, and they said the ends aren't replaceable, and that they chose the joysticks for function over aesthetics. The latter part makes no sense to me (since ball ends would offer more function...)?
Anyway...

I remember Devi having some on her pedals...maybe she can weigh in...

I still think it would be easy to control by foot, esp barefooted as-is. I'm surprised that the ends aren't screw-on swapabble tho.

I know, me too.
I'm no Joss Stone or Michael Hedges though, so I was thinking more with shoes...

Cut a hole in a little ruber ball. Stick on joystick.

Well, it's not that there aren't ways to mod it, but it's not a cheap pedal, so why can't it be more user-friendly to begin with?
But maybe I'm too one sided and the only one who sees the advantage of a ball end?...

Sorry Gadgetjunky, don't wanna highjack your thread, just wanted to bring this up. I'll be quiet now

no. This is all relavant. I don't know if a ball tip would make any difference, but I trust opinions here and company's like SA are wise to utilized this resource.
