Whammy dry out question

Sign in to disble this ad
Is the Dry Out of the Whammy pedal meant to be used in stereo? When you're on one of the whammy modes (not harmony), will the shifted signal be mixed with the wet signal as well or something?

It would be nice to hear, in harmony mode, the dry signal through one amplifier, while the wet signal came out the other one in harmony mode, but in whammy mode, I'd prefer to have both amps running the wet signal at the same time.

It's just that Justin Chancellor uses the dry out of his Whammy pedal to create a dirty channel. I've heard nothing but the effected signal on studio recordings when he does the octave shifts, but I'm not sure about live stuff.

Man... You love your Whammy threads. Just buy one already

The Dry Out is just that... Its a dry out. You can run it where you like.

I personally just put my Whammy into the loop of my blender and don't worry about the dry out. That way I have a clean blend with one amp/cab and can vary the blend as I please.

That's exactly how I used to use mine. It sounds weird not having the clean signal there now when I use it.

yep... I find it sounds quite thin & poxy without a clean blend. Also I find the clean blend covers up some of the strange break up / digital weirdness that comes from the Whammy.

Also, if I bypass the pedal, does that mean the amplifier connected to the dry out is muted?

I think if you used a true bypass looper pedal, then the signal from the dry out of the whammy would probably be muted. I might be wrong, though.

Heh, I put a fuzz before my whammy to make it weirder. I had no idea people tried to use them as clean pitch shifters

Actually, the fuzz removed a lot of the weirdness, probably because it's far easier to track a square wave, so the tracking got faster/less glitchy and got rid of the noise of the pedal. It actually sounded too clean.
