What 1RU item to add?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a 4 space rack with 3 RU's worth of stuff in it (a 2RU amp and a 1RU Furman). The unused rack space taunts me with it's emptiness. Yes, I know I could just put an empty rack panel in there, but that's hardly the TalkBass way.

I have pedalboard with a Zoom B9.1ut, a looper and a wah/volume, but I don't use lots of in-your-face effects. We're a trio and do Jam-band type stuff with light forays into Jazz-ish things.

So what to add?

I find that the best thing for an empty rack space is a nice grilled cheese sandwich.

Empty space. let your head breathe

Put your head on the bottom and your furman all the way on top

Drum trigger module, compressor, tuner, or a vented filler piece.

Even if you don't need a preamp, it might be a good idea to get a Sansamp or something, in case your amp ever gives out at a show, you can go straight to the PA and just keep playing.

Maybe you can pick up a used Digilog Dynamicator- no rack is complete without one:

That's how it is now. I know I should just put a vented panel in there...

I must have one. Too bad they're discontinued! I wonder if there's a knock-off version or something else that is 'close'. I need a dedicated Biggen to Squishen control.

Which one is better for Metal, Red or Black?

Black is better for metal, but red lets you play faster.

Just leave it empty unless you actually have something compelling to put in it. It's just extra weight that you're obviously doing fine without. If it bothers you that much to have an empty space showing, get a blank rack panel.

Either a Korg Rack tuner or a Aphex 204. The 204 makes your stuff sound SICK.

I keep my flask of scotch in the empty rack space. The empty space gives my GK some room to breath. I can go back and to the amp and " make adjustments".

But then, I've already got a Korg tuner in the rack.

How's that Zoom B9 treating you?
