What am I missing on my board?

Sign in to disble this ad
Well my boards pretty much complete but I have space for one more pedal and can't figure out what I wanna put on it. Here's what I have so far

Bass ->
Korg DT-10 Tuner
Foxrox Octron Octaver
Lovetone Cheese Source Overdrive/Fuzz
Lovetone Meatball Envelope Filter
Electro-Harmonix USA Bassballs Envelope Follower
Subdecay Quasar Phaser or Electro-Harmonix PolyPhase (still deciding on this one)
Diamond Memory Lane Analog Delay
-> Amp

I'm not a big chorus or tremolo fan. I've had a great flanger (maxon fl-9) and liked it buy couldn't really use it Live. I'm good on OD/Fuzz/Distortion as well.

I've thought about another Filter (yeah i know) but that might be overkill and with the Meatball. Maybe MXR Bass Auto Q or a Q-tron or some sort is what I was thinking? That's really all I can think of though.

Ideas?

I'm good on the phaser and I've played the Mutron, and I'm keeping my Meatball. The mutron's nice, but the Meat's got a lot more sounds.

Toadworks Phantasm. The Envelope phasing might be a nice addition.

yeah i thought about that too, but it's almost $400 for a phaser. I'm between the Subdecay and EHX PolyPhase and either will suit my needs, I don't use Phaser a lot.

Are there any other "it" pedals I'm forgetting? I gave the Prunes and Custard a shot, but it didn't make it.

Digital delay? One day you may find yourself longing for long long delay times or the super bright sound of a digital delay, and the memory lane won't be able to do it.

Maybe just leave it be? You can plug a random pedal in that spot when you get some gas, without having to 'commit'. Easy come, easy go.

I was gonna say a heterodyne frequency shifter, but same idea.

Either that, or find an old Maestro Bass Brassmaster.

Find yourself a nice digital clock with a big number readout you can see from the floor, and that runs on 9v...:-)

Or maybe a Compressor...I didn't see one of those on the list...

the cheese source has a lot of tones in it, so i'm good on dist/od/fuzz.

yeah i really thought about that for a while too. i had the copilot android and it really didn't make it for me. it was a little too esoteric (who would have thought??)

who's the big winner tonight, mikey is erhmm i mean grygrx is. good call man. i'll wait till something really smoking comes out.

in the meantime feel free to attempt to flare up my hemroids...errhmm i man GAS with some more goodies.

i was thinking one of those frostwave pedals too, resonator or funk-a-duck, but they seem a little to "out there" for me as well.

Well, a compressor is good, and an envelope phaser was mentioned, but I like the digital delay idea. The Stereo Memoryman has some pretty cool features, like reverse and a short loop, and some crazy modulation, too. I've got the reverse problem, board is loaded, got a few excess pedals that I gotta keep. There's no winning, really.

yeah i had the G5, BMS, and Deep Impact, but they took up a lot of space, and i didn't use them that much. Plus with my combo of Octaver, OD/Fuzz, and Filter I can get close, not exactly there, but close enough.

Good thought though.

I'm guessing you weren't there when Mark and I reviewed the "big three" and eventually decided we didn't want to keep any of them?

What about that Flipster pedal everyone is talking about? It can apparently give you a vintage old school B15 tone in a pedal. It might be a nice option for certain songs in a set. Just something to consider.

A compressor might be overkill since he is using an Orange all tube head. With those tubes he is already getting a nice natural compression.
