I'm looking for an affordable, clean, compression pedal (not a rack unit). I 'm looking for something that is comparable to the ART Levelar, but also if there is anything else that is good out there?
I'm really big on wanting to keep my tone and stay away from as much hiss and noise as possible. What do you guys think? Does such a wonder pedal exist?
I'll take any ideas or input. Hash it out bassmen (and women too). |

A little subtle for my taste but if you want something pretty transparent with a dash of mojo or a little thickening punch it may be right up your alley. IME it sounds excellent through a mixing board and/or headphones but the "effect" gets lost through my amp with a band. If you don't want to hear your compressor it could be for you. I like really obvious "effect" compression like Tony Levin. I'm thinking of trading my compulator for something like a Barge Concepts RC-3. |

But if you guys could throw up some review or reasoning for liking some of the pedals you've used, that would be super helpful.
Thanks |

PRACTICE-PRACTICE-PRACTICE!!!!
Record yourself while you practice and watch the meter! I rarely get a comp/limiter slapped on me live or in the studio! The more you work at it the less you need any compression or limiting! Allow the dynamics to be present in your playing. You will get there!!! |

I'm pretty sure it's not my playing, it just happens. It'd be nice to have something that would limit these few frequencies down a bit.
I don't currently own any pedals. (my ampeg sp-210 has about 15 effects built in, but rarely used) I think this might be a good choice for a "first" pedal for myself. Any further input would be awesome.
I've heard about the "stomp" pedal before. So maybe I'll look into that.

I use a Guyatone ST-2 because it's got a very thick tone and can really go over the top when you want to. To me it's really an effect, not a crutch like some like to consider it. Quote:

E.g. Trace Elliot uses this principle from the early days on: http://reviews.harmony-central.com/r...ompressor/10/1 |
