What Delay do I need? Help!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi there! I am currently owning a compressor and a m80. I looking for a delay that adds that extra depth and echo to my sound. Esp one that doesnt cancel the bass frequencies, as most delays are all for guitars. Also Im in a three piece band where i need the sound to be fatter and fuller. I am considering currently the mxr carbon copy and the #1 Echo from ehx.

Any idea what kinda delay do i need?

Thanks!

I have a built in compressor on my combo amp as well as the M80 and I use the Boss DD-6 Delay which is awesome. Way more than I really use though, with the reverse and all. Warp is a pretty cool mode. Its got the tap tempo and hold function as well. It handles the bass incredibly well. Most modulation pedals will work just fine with bass anyway. I've had no problems with the DD-6. Super easy to use, sounds incredible, and it's loaded with features. I couldn't tell you much about other delays. Regardless, I hope this helped; a little anyway.

I've owned about two dozen delays over the years, and not one of them rolled off the lows. Certainly there may be delays out there that do roll off the lows, but IME they would be the odd exception.

Do you want a digital or analog delay? Depending on which you choose, your options will definitely become a bit more defined.

i really like my ibanez DE7, it is the second delay i have owned. I first had a DD-3 about 2 years ago, and i sold it in a week, because i couldnt figure out what to do with it. but earlier this year i decided i wanted one again and i love using it. its fun to use for trippy intros or ambient break downs.
it has a wide variety of delay sounds, as well as echo which is really fun to play with.
overall its a great delay.
i bought mine used for 35 bucks, i think they run about 70 new.
id highly recomend it!

i think the digitech digidelay is pretty well rounded delay for being a moderately priced effect pedal which you can get pretty cheap used. it sometimes gets hailed as sounding warmer then the boss dd series. i personally like both for their juxtaposed tones but that would be something for you to decide. as for an analog delay, word on the street has it that the mxr carbon copy is the bomb!
