Simple, good, and cheap. Stands up to nuclear holocost too! |

The first delay that I owned was the DD-3. It was a very good little delay. I got a lot of usable sounds out of it. I've got an Empress Superdelay now which is quite stunning. |

I wanted the Maxon AD-9 but wasn't sure if I'd use it as much as I thought I may, so I went with the cheaper reissue. I may pick up a Maxon still... but to use with the Ibanez, not to replace it.

I like that I can loop w/the analog sim going, unlike the DL-4. If I didn't need the loop feature I'd probably grab some old analog DOD pedal. I had a Pearl a thousand years ago- that was sweeet.

He's not a n00b... if you are looking to be a Mod, you'd make a better impression if you added a couple things to that post:
1.) a link or 2 to some of the recent few threads you reference.
2.) an actual answer to the question.
That said, sometimes a thread from the past can be meaningless if some new killer products have come out and/or some killer products have been discontinued. There is no law preventing repeat threads that I'm aware of... but it's been a while since I was a Mod here. |

Recently sold a DD-3. It was a good, simple delay

i also have a ehx shmm a more complicated one. but its sure is fun to play around with it and lots of very usable sounds. i need to familiarise myself more to it start leaving it on my board tho |

I was just curious as to what some of my fellow TBers are using. Likes...Dislikes and suggestions.. | I could tell you what I use (soon an Empress Superdelay) but what it really comes down to is what features you want and what price range you're considering.
Do you want clear digital repeats or do you want a warm analog or tape sound? Is tap tempo needed? Self-oscillation? Modulated delay? Is there a minimum delay time you need? Are there other features (reverse delay for instance) that you'd like?
My standard recommendations at a reasonable price point are the Boss DD-5 (or DD-3), the Guyatone MD-3 and the Line6 Echo Park.
Boss delays are solid delays, plain and simple. The Guyatone is the clearest digital delay anywhere near that price point and the Echo Park is feature laden and maybe the most fun pedal you can buy for $110.
On the expensive end of things, I think the Pigtronix Echolution sounds amazing and the Superdelay has amazing features including 8 programmable presets. |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Apr 2001 Location: berkeley, ca | | dd-3, though i also want an analog delay to complement it. (plus, you can never have too many delays!)
the maxon ad-9999 is pretty friggin' sweet, but i just can't pay $300 for any single effect.
good analog options, without going to the used market, are the ibanez ad-9, mxr carbon copy, and (probably) the modtone delay pedal. i think i'm going to check out the danelectro reel echo unit this weekend over at gelb...
personally, i don't like delay times that are even half a second long, so all of these new-fangled digital delays with seven years of delay time are just useless to me.
also, the word is that the dd-7 is noisy! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
