What delay pedal should I get?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey,
So I got this band that plays 80's Cure/David bowie kinda stuff...
(Not my cup of tea, but it should pay nice), and... I think I need a delay pedal.

I've never used a delay pedal on bass, only on guitar.

I'm looking for something with a tap tempo on the same pedal (like the dd-6 and 7).
Having both analog and digital tone would be nice.
Looking for a small pedal (boss size is ok).
Less then $100 used.

What do you think?

Sounds like you want a Line 6 Echo Park.

I`ve been told that new Digitech hardwire delay has both analog and digital delay circuits. It also has tap tempo that was fairly easy to use. No trails though...

marshall echohead should fit the bill.
it has both analog and digital modes, and a socket for a tap tempo switch.
i made my switch and it cost me about £10.
retail price in the UK is £65, but i'm not sure about s/h value or us price though (perhaps $99? new)

Spend more $ on a delay. If you get a quality one, it's WORTH it. Just save for another week or three.
Seriously, just do it, man...

I would recommend the Echo Park. I'm getting rid of mine, but it is a GREAT pedal!

Thanks!

So far it looks like promising to:
DD-6/7
Echo park
Digitech hardwire delay

What would you chose and why, any other suggestions?

The tempo modes for tap on the three pedals are not as perfectly precise as using an external would be...
Trying to find any of these used for under $100 might be a little hard, minus the Line 6...

The looper function on the Digi does put it ahead of the others in the bells and whistles category...
Line 6's modulated delays IMO are amazing, esp the sweep effect.
Boss is time-tested and mother-approved...
Each has its pros and cons....

Thanks!
So far the line6 looks about right, I'll try and borrow the DD6 from a band member, see if I like it.

I have one, it does have a small switch inside for TRAILS On/Off.
I love it. Great sounds and the tap tempo and looper are great extras.

I have the Ibanez AD9 and it's one of my favorite delays ever. I picked it over the Carbon Copy every one is raving about.

That's a great delay. Arguably the delay the Carbon Copy is intended to sound like (I have no idea about the circuit) - dark as the deepest echoplex dub track. Classic and often pops up at a really appealing price.
