I got this Sadowsky preamp through a local craigslist trade. I thought I was getting the newer one, but instead I got this. It looks old... and the box looks even older. Not sure how old it is... but I figured I would go ahead and see if any of you guys knew anything about this.

Anyway, if that one sounds like mine, yes, it's a treasure no matter how you slice it.
P.S.--Before a mod chimes in, if you're selling it, you need to do that at the For Sale forum.

I got it in a music shop second hand and paid about £60 for it - I love it and use if for boosting the signal on my piezo pickup on my Double Bass!
They are great for passive basses - but if you use them with an active bass - they do absolutely nothing!!
Great bits of kit - indestructible - but quite common and not worth that much.

I have the newer one. All I would add is that the new one has a DI that is GREAT for both live and recording applications. Otherwise, unless you want the footswitch to kick it in and out, I wouldn't see the point in buying the new one.

You,my friend have ABSOLUTELY,UNEQUIVOCALLY hit the "Compact" pre-amp Jackpot.
They have the "Mini-Rig of Doom" thread on here..... Well,if the "Mini-Pre of Doom" thread were to exist, this would be K-I-N-G!!!
I've had one for 20 (plus or minus) years. With my '75 J-Bass??? Fugetaboutit!!!!
Great find!!!!!!!!!!

I use it on my passives and it sounds great. does anyone know how close these things are circuit wise? is the similarity just the box?
